"Whether it was the feds closing in, years of festering tensions, or something else entirely, Rosa Cazares late last week left La Mota, according to a text message between two La Mota managers, reviewed byWW." https://lnkd.in/eyZ9ppbMIn terms of their current NM footprint, here is where La Mota stands:* Three operating storefronts. The first two (Clovis and Indian School/ABQ) opened in March of this year; the third location at 4th St/ABQ opened in September 2023.* All three operating storefronts reported less than $25k in sales last month. The strongest performer (Clovis) noted $24.3k in sales, a 69% increase over October* The 4th St storefront location has reported less than $1.8k to the CCD for each of its three months. November's total was only $1,760 in sales.* It appears that La Mota is additionally licensed to open retail in Deming, Grants, Jal, and Raton, but the timetable for opening additional storefronts still needs to be determined.

Most retailers bundle tech into their President's Day savings, but Costco is electing to divide its deals into three branches: mattresses, appliances, and Tech Days. While it's clear that pushing the success of general merchandise in ecommerce is a priority, the varying term limits on these deals could create some confusion for members. Micro insights from the week in club:- The city of Jacksonville, Florida is reviewing a permit for an application to build out a 1 million-square-foot distribution center for a grand total of $30.86 million. While Sam's Club has neither confirmed nor denied its ownership of the project, an architect based in Bentonville, Arkansas is listed. The center would represent a huge investment in one of the most hotly contested states among warehouse clubs. Though Sam's has the most presence, it's only beating BJ's by about 11 warehouses. A new center of this scale would allow Sam's to deliver faster, better omnichannel services for a large chunk of its base there. Be prepared for what potentially smaller, more agile deliveries will mean for you - particularly in Hurricane Alley, where sudden needs for stock-ups might be more frequent. https://lnkd.in/g6qyEW2u- BJ's filed a permit application to build an $8.5 million club in Louisville, Kentucky, which would mark its first in the state and its next step in building out a real presence in the South. Kentucky is tied for twelfth with Iowa and Oregon for states with the fewest number of clubs, leaving plenty of opportunity.
